Being a mom is challenging. Parenting well is challenging. Both of these facts feel compounded when a baby is added to the mix. Susie was so affirming after the arrival of my third child. Even as a veteran mom, the guilt of returning to work negatively affected my milk supply, but Susie affirmed me with the reminder that my body would provide all that my little one needed during nursing sessions. Susie was always available for questions, concerns, etc. while I was pregnant with my first son. Her experiential knowledge with being both a mom and a Doula was so rich. She met me several times after my appointment to help with the baby’s positioning, etc.
After my son was born, Susie answered the millions of questions I had as a first time mom. I had a number of physical complications, mainly with breastfeeding. Come to find out my son had a tongue-tie. My son was born right at the start of the 2020 pandemic, so nearly everything was closed, but Susie got me in touch with a tongue tie specialist and gave me a list of lactation consultants. Thanks to Susie, I was able to get the surgery and get back to breastfeeding my son without all the tears on my end.
Susie is such a godsend. She is brilliant when it comes to births and babies, and makes you feel like you are her most important client and friend. She is proactive and attentive. She has a wealth of knowledge in even the smallest things, like which brand of vitamins to buy and what natural remedies to take for clogged ducts and mastitis. None of my questions ever surprised her. She also never made me feel dumb or inadequate. She was always encouraging, caring and loving.
