Giving birth at Inova Alexandria Hospital

In my experience supporting births at Inova Alexandria Hospital, the approach has been more medically focused and less accommodating of non-medicated birth preferences. I have encountered a strong preference for continuous monitoring, with inconsistent access to wireless monitors and some reluctance to use them. The rooms I have worked in have felt small, and some interactions with nursing staff have felt more directive than collaborative, with less warmth and encouragement than families may hope for. While experiences vary by care team, this would not be among my first recommendations for families prioritizing a non-medicated, low-intervention birth.
