Giving birth at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital
Fair Oaks is where I attend most of my births, and it's where many of my families choose to deliver. A lot of births here are non medicated, and many of the providers are glad to give families a more natural experience. The nursing staff is great.
Several labor rooms feature tubs, while Room 5 offers an especially spacious setting—quadruple the size of the other rooms—with a large freestanding soaking tub, a shower, and a towel warmer. In general, the labor rooms here are larger than those at most hospitals, providing more space for movement, comfort, and support throughout labor. Like most hospitals, the partner sleeps on a pull-out couch, and honestly it isn't great.
